Immersion Goals and Overview

  • English is used in 70% of lessons.
  • Students learn about the culture and customs of Japan and countries around the world.
  • Students become proficient at communication in Japanese, as well as English.

Learn English in a natural way.

Early English Immersion equals Total Immersion.

When acquiring a second language it is important that children do so as naturally as they learn their first language (Japanese). With this in mind, early immersion programs were developed. Providing children with daily opportunities to learn, play and socialize in English enhances the rate of acquisition of a second language.

Yearly cultural exchanges with American elementary school students.

We have an exchange program and classes inviting students from Greatfalls Elementary School (USA) which implements Japanese immersion.

Sister school program with Katoh Elementary School in Shizuoka prefecture.

Katoh Gakuen first introduced English immersion to Japan. With the cooperation of our sister school, Katoh Elementary School, and authorized International Baccalaureate school we will continue to improve our exchange program and consequently, our students' abilities.

Interdisciplinary curricula plus hands-on learning.

Through an integrated curriculum and a wide repertoire of strategies employed by teachers the learning experience is far more meaningful for children - helping them grow academically, socially and personally. This provides a greater learning experience and develops greater linguistic and cultural understanding,
